Position Overview
As a Bakery Operations Leader, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily activities of the bakery department. This position involves assisting with the scheduling and management of Team Members while ensuring that our bakery, coffee, and juice displays are appealing and well-maintained. You will support the Bakery Team Leader and Associate Team Leader(s) to facilitate the efficient operation of the Bakery Team. It is essential to uphold a positive company image by delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient service to both customers and Team Members consistently. All responsibilities must align with team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and assign tasks to Bakery Team Members effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Bakery Trainer to educate Team Members, fostering a high-performance environment and reducing turnover.
  • Assist in onboarding new Team Members using structured training materials and checklists.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper stock rotation of all cases and shelves.
  • Follow established procedures for opening and closing the department.
  • Guarantee that all necessary breaks are provided to Team Members.
  • Communicate any team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader.
  • Set and maintain the highest standards of retail execution.
  • Encourage a positive atmosphere of teamwork, respect, and high morale.
  • Monitor customer flows and needs, directing Team Members to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Select, train, and mentor Team Members to sustain a high-performance team.
  • Conduct timely and comprehensive performance evaluations.
  • Consistently embody and communicate the vision and goals of Whole Foods Market.

Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of 12 months of retail experience.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking for 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use includes single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Work involves bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures: below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Capability to work in both wet and dry conditions.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment, including knives and electric pallet jacks.
  • May require the use of ladders.
