Role Responsibilities

The Quantitative Analyst will play a crucial role in providing quantitative insights for financial, clinical, and network contracting initiatives. This position involves conducting financial modeling, analyzing utilization data, and generating reports to support strategic business development and cost management efforts. The analyst will perform contract valuation analysis to facilitate payer and provider negotiations and enhance medical cost management strategies.

In this role, you will collaborate with various departments to deliver high-level business intelligence and analytics. Proficiency in statistical analysis, project management, and customer service is essential for success in this position.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of financial and statistical outcomes, develop financial forecasts, and leverage analytical skills to recommend actionable strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Serve as a technical expert in data extraction and mining, utilizing diverse software tools to analyze and present clinical and cost data, integrating benchmark information.
  • Proactively identify and communicate cost and utilization trends to uncover inefficiencies and opportunities for reducing overall healthcare costs.
  • Analyze performance metrics related to clinical programs and provider networks to inform strategic decisions.
  • Utilize benchmarking data and predictive analytics to advise on best practices and integrated reporting.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Microsoft Access and Excel, along with experience in business intelligence tools and analytic software packages. Familiarity with SQL and data warehousing strategies is advantageous.
  • Combine data from multiple sources to design actuarial models that project future costs and public health behaviors.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as accounting, engineering, economics, finance, statistics, or mathematics.
  • Master's degree in business, health administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with data and actuarial models.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector, particularly in hospitals, health plans, or managed care environments, is preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial modeling for payer and provider negotiations and medical cost management.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, decision-support role is highly desirable.
  • Progress toward Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA) certification is a plus.
