Organization Summary

Clear Path for Veterans, Inc. (CPV or Clear Path) serves as a vital resource center in Upstate New York, providing a comprehensive array of information, programs, and services tailored for veterans and their families. The Peer Mentor plays a crucial role in aiding veterans' reintegration into their communities by linking them with essential programs and services aimed at holistic warrior care.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Respond to inquiries from veterans with empathy and understanding.
  2. Provide accurate information and support to veterans and clients, including conducting research when necessary.
  3. Assist veterans seeking employment opportunities.
  4. Collaborate with the Regional Manager to review ongoing cases and manage overflow caseloads as required.
  5. Assess the effectiveness of the Peer Support program by monitoring caseloads, focusing on:
    1. Evaluating veterans' independence in health, financial stability, and housing.
    2. Tracking progress and adjusting care plans to ensure veterans achieve their goals.
  6. Identify and connect with potential resources within designated areas, including community, state, federal, health, and social services.
  7. Represent Clear Path for Veterans at community events, fostering relationships with veterans and promoting the Peer Mentor program.
  8. Oversee volunteer participants in the Wingman program.
  9. Engage in departmental and organizational meetings actively.
  10. Participate in the hiring process for Peer Support program staff in collaboration with Human Resources.
  11. Encourage teamwork through regular communication with the Regional Manager.
  12. Manage financial documentation, including credit card receipts.
  13. Approve leave requests for assigned employees.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; a degree in Human Services, Psychology, or a related field is preferred, along with a minimum of one year of supervisory or advisory experience. Military service is required to understand military culture, with combat experience preferred. OR
  • Associate's degree required; a degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field is preferred, with at least two years of supervisory or advisory experience. Military service is required to understand military culture, with combat experience preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Comfortable with dogs in the workplace.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to thirty-five (35) pounds, drive in various weather conditions, and may need to sit or stand for extended periods. Manual dexterity is required for frequent computer use, and vision must be sufficient for reading and developing paperwork.
