Position Overview:
This role is dedicated to enhancing the safety protocols for international travel at MUSC. The individual will be responsible for supporting the university's international travel safety framework, which includes the implementation and upkeep of traveler tracking systems. The position requires vigilance in monitoring global events that may affect the safety of MUSC travelers, while also providing assistance in operational travel safety aspects and emergency preparedness initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuously assessing global events and evaluating health, safety, and security threats that may impact MUSC travelers abroad.
- Managing and refining international travel systems and procedures.
- Guiding travelers in utilizing university resources and addressing location-specific health, safety, and logistical concerns.
- Promoting awareness of available resources, insurance benefits, and travel guidelines for faculty, staff, and students engaged in university-related travel.
- Executing additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree is required, along with a minimum of two years of pertinent experience in global safety and security, emergency management, risk management, international education, or compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in drafting and executing policies and operational procedures within a university context.
- Experience living, studying, or working internationally.
- Strong familiarity with study abroad programs, higher education environments, and emergency response coordination.
- In-depth knowledge of international crisis management, travel risk mitigation practices, and security resources.
- Experience with traveler registry and tracking systems, such as Terra Dotta software solutions.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, maintain composure under pressure, and foster effective working relationships.
- Proficiency in utilizing online systems and tools, data analysis, and technology.
Physical Requirements: The ability to perform various job functions in diverse environments, both indoors and outdoors, with specific physical capabilities.
