Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Research and Education Services team at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. As the Director of Research and Education Services, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective research and educational services to support the academic and clinical community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Supervise a team of librarians and staff to provide research, education, and clinical information services.
    • Build relationships across the health sciences to stay abreast of and respond to evolving information needs.
  • Research and Education
    • Develop and lead strategic plan initiatives to advance the mission of the Wexner Medical Center.
    • Collaborate with HSL librarians to provide appropriate services and programs to meet evolving information needs.
    • Conduct research and scholarly activities in appropriate venues to meet the Libraries' and University's criteria for promotion and tenure.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Actively partner with marketing staff in the promotion of HSL research and education services.
    • Work collaboratively and serve on committees and task forces with units of the larger university to foster productive and inspired research and education innovations.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Masters degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association.
  • Experience
    • 2-3 years of experience in a health sciences or academic library with increasing levels of responsibility.
    • 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Skills
    • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and/or research support in an academic library setting.
    • Increasing levels of responsibility in leadership, planning, and management of library services.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Understanding of health sciences library trends including support of research data policy and other research support services.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience
    • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a health sciences library with increasing levels of responsibility and supervisory duties.
  • Skills
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in evidence-based practice, research data sharing, and expert searching.
    • Experience publishing and presenting research and established activity in professional library organizations.
