Welding Quality Assurance Specialist

The primary focus of this role is to conduct thorough visual inspections of welded structures, including poles and heavy steel frameworks, ensuring adherence to specified design documents and compliance with industry standards such as AWS and AISC.
Qualifications
- Must hold a CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in welding heavy steel structures, ideally with some time spent in an inspection capacity.
- Strong ability to interpret and analyze shop drawings, particularly weld symbols.
- Familiarity with AISC and AWS national codes is essential.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Exhibit a proactive attitude towards progress through positive change and teamwork.
- Exceptional attention to detail is required.
- Ability to work autonomously while following established guidelines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Oversee the visual inspection of welded joints at the designated facility.
- Verify that fabricated steel components are welded according to specifications and that inspections are conducted to facilitate workflow.
- Document and report inspection outcomes, preparing necessary certification documentation for quality assurance.
- Conduct in-process inspections of welded assemblies, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Review new project specifications and interpret complex drawings and customer requirements.
- Assist in identifying and resolving quality discrepancies efficiently.
- Provide support to shop personnel regarding quality control inquiries.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CWI certification is mandatory.
