Position Overview

The role of the Utilization Management Nurse Consultant is a fully remote position, allowing candidates to work from any state without the need for travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize clinical expertise to assess and document all facets of the utilization and benefit management program.
  • Ensure members receive timely and appropriate care, adhering to established federal and state guidelines.
  • Review clinical records to verify medical necessity and appropriate benefit utilization.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and facilities to facilitate safe discharge planning and meet the diverse needs of members.
  • Gather and analyze clinical information to make informed coverage determinations along the care continuum.
  • Engage with providers and stakeholders to streamline care and treatment processes.
  • Identify opportunities for member referrals to enhance integration with additional services and programs.
  • Promote quality and efficiency in healthcare services and benefit utilization.
  • Provide consultation and expertise to internal and external partners regarding utilization and benefit management.

Required Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted RN licensure in the state of residence.
  • A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in an acute hospital setting, with a preference for medical-surgical and ICU backgrounds.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday during specified hours, with occasional weekend and holiday shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Utilization Review and Managed Care.
  • Strong telephonic communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preference for candidates located in the Arizona Time Zone.

Education

  • Associate's Degree required; BSN preferred.

The typical pay range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
