:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is accountable for delivering and coordinating exceptional patient care in the clinical environment by utilizing established nursing practices, procedures, and protocols.
The CNS collaborates with various professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and optimal outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adheres to all nursing duties in accordance with the Arizona State Board of Nursing - Nurse Practice Act.
Evaluates patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, and cultural needs for care planning.
Reviews patient history and physical assessments with patients and families, ensuring timely completion and accurate documentation in the patient's medical record.
Assesses available information from other healthcare team members. Analyzes diagnostic and laboratory data, reporting any abnormal findings to the physician(s) and relevant caregivers.Implements care plans through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of healthcare team activities.
Delivers care based on physician directives and the nursing care plan, adhering to policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.
Delegates tasks appropriately and supervises nursing care provided by other licensed nurses and personnel.
Ensures continuity of care by effectively communicating patient status to other caregivers.
Provides necessary pre- and post-operative education for patients and their families.Assists with triage and management of patient inquiries and procedure order entries.
Supports the physician in clinical settings and during procedures.
Maintains collaborative relationships with office staff, referring physician offices, residents, and ancillary personnel.
Oversees the management of the physician's office in partnership with the Practice Coordinator.
Contributes to staff education and training, serving as a resource for other office personnel.
Assists in data collection for clinical research.
Ensures patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives, meeting established timelines.
Actively engages in initiatives to enhance patient, employee, and physician satisfaction.
Ensures all services are delivered in a safe, professional, and efficient manner.
Adheres to company policies and procedures.
Demonstrates openness to change and engages in ongoing personal and professional development.
Generates innovative approaches to enhance quality and cost-effectiveness.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess strong analytical and independent decision-making skills in diverse clinical scenarios.
Requires a high level of accuracy in performing various responsibilities.
Proficient computer skills and experience with electronic medical records (EMR) are essential.
Must establish effective relationships with patients, family members, employees, physicians, and community members.
Regular attendance and punctuality are expected.
Maintains a positive demeanor and exemplifies professionalism at all times.
Adheres to appropriate professional attire.
Works autonomously without direct supervision.
Completes tasks accurately and promptly.
Exhibits excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills, along with tact, diplomacy, and a strong customer service focus.
Effectively prioritizes work activities and manages multiple responsibilities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
:
A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
Current BCLS certification is required; ACLS certification is highly preferred.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in an outpatient setting is required.
Previous experience in Medical/Surgical or Pain Management is strongly preferred.
