Job Summary

The Randolph County School System is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian/Bus Driver to join our team. As a key member of our facilities and transportation department, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our school buildings and grounds, as well as safely transporting students to and from school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Secure school buildings and take out trash, clean bathrooms, hallways, classrooms, and gym
  • Mop and buff halls, vacuum in carpeted areas, and clean cafeteria after school activities
  • Change lights, fill paper towel and toilet paper dispensers, and clean and dust high and low
  • Clean bathroom stalls and sinks, fill toilet paper and soap dispensers, sweep and mop floors, and wipe down walls
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, buff, and strip floors, and wipe down walls
  • Clean gym, sweep and spot mop, clean water fountains, and clean up after activities
  • Set up and pick up chairs, clean, sweep, and pick up trash, and replace lights on a daily basis
  • Assist when other custodial staff members are absent, and interact appropriately and courteously with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and central office staff
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Lead Custodian, Principal, or Assistant Principal
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license issued by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods required
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, and come into direct contact with RCSS staff, students, and the public required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a custodian in a public school setting
  • Experience working and interacting appropriately with students, teachers, and other school staff
  • Able to obtain a North Carolina Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with school bus certification and P&S endorsements
Working Conditions

Work is considered medium physical work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.

Physical Demands

Employees in this position are required to work in indoor and outdoor environments, and come into direct contact with RCSS staff, students, and the public.
