Job Summary:

Laboratory phlebotomists at MidCoast Health System are responsible for collecting blood specimens for laboratory testing, company drug screen collections, and performing clerical duties associated with specimen collection and referral.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood and urine samples from patients
  • Perform clerical duties as required
  • Ensure familiarity with hospital and departmental safety standards
  • Provide patient-centered care and respond to customer relations philosophy

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy course helpful, experience preferred
  • Registered phlebotomist will be compensated by salary adjustment
  • Ability to work 4-16 hour shifts, including rotating weekends or seven on/seven off shift

Working Conditions:

Exposed to loud noise, hazardous materials, bloodborne pathogens, and patients with various illnesses.

Reports To:

Phlebotomy Coordinator, Phlebotomy Technical Supervisor, Director of Laboratory Services
