Job Overview

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Employs the nursing process, integrating evidence-based practices and specialized skills to evaluate the physical state and nursing requirements of patients, while formulating a care plan in collaboration with the patient and multidisciplinary team.
  • Coordinates with the interprofessional team to address the care needs of patients, ensuring the delivery of top-tier care and optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Exhibits clinical proficiency in the delivery of care within the designated specialty, fulfilling all responsibilities of a professional clinical nurse (RN) that are appropriate for various age groups, developmentally aware, and culturally sensitive.
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance the patient care experience, streamline care workflows, and reduce costs while fostering quality to elevate satisfaction for patients, families, and team members.
  • Fosters a professional atmosphere that promotes mentorship, engagement, and development to retain skilled clinicians.
  • Provides expert consultation and maintains constructive relationships with physicians and other team members, collaborating to resolve issues and enhance patient care.
  • Demonstrates foresight and proactively manages risks to avert crises, performing adeptly in life-threatening emergencies by aligning demands with available resources during critical situations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current RN Licensure in Wisconsin
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a commitment to obtain within five years; an Associate's Degree in Nursing is acceptable for those hired prior to specified guidelines.

Certifications Required:

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for Emergency Departments
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for Emergency Departments
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) completion requirements based on experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to move freely, including standing, walking, bending, pushing, and lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing job duties.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to execute patient care tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequent exposure to sharp instruments and objects.
  • Occasional exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and hazardous materials.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Transporting and positioning patients with adherence to proper body mechanics.
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials.
  • Occasional interaction with aggressive patients.

UNIT DETAILS:

The Emergency Department operates as a Level II trauma center and a comprehensive stroke center, with a dedicated team skilled in trauma and neurological emergency care, ensuring timely and patient-centered collaborative care.

SCHEDULE:

  • 12-hour NIGHT shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM.
  • Weekend and holiday requirements as per departmental guidelines.
