Job Title: Program Director - Learning to Work

CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors, and partners working together to build an inclusive New York City. We offer more than 180 integrated programs in Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. Our services reach over 73,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth.

The Learning to Work (LTW) at Young Adult Borough Centers Program provides services to students aged 17 1/2-21 who are over-aged for grade, under-credited, and have spent at least one year in another high school. Our program aims to help students earn a high school diploma and gain valuable vocational and life skills. Each student will have a Young Adult Career Advisor who will guide them towards removing barriers to graduation, engage them in college preparatory activities, provide supportive services, and increase self-direction and self-sufficiency through meaningful career exploration experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with students, direct reporting staff, peers, supervisors, and funders.
  • Plan and organize program activities to maximize program contract's goals and performance targets.
  • Motivate, coach, and counsel direct reporting staff to excel.
  • Improve teamwork among direct reporting staff as well as among peers.
  • Overcome resistance to change from students, direct reporting staff, and supervisors/funders.
  • Administer constructive discipline to direct reporting staff, as needed.
  • Manage own time effectively and coordinate program activities to maximize time of direct reporting staff.
  • Review all documentation related to students' progress for accuracy, completeness, and clarity.
  • Hold weekly meetings with principals.
  • Facilitate bi-monthly individual and team meetings with staff.
  • Oversee and maintain annual OTPS budget.
  • Lead and participate in administrative and staff meetings as requested.
  • Prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting staff.
  • May reach out and market the program to the community in order to recruit students.
  • May conduct initial intake or assessment of clients and/or clients' families and periodic reassessments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) and two years of applicable experience. Master's degree preferred. (A license is required of these Master's Degrees: Social Work (LMSW or LCSW), Mental Health Counseling, Counseling/Guidance, Art Therapy).
