Construction Superintendent

D.A. Collins Companies is looking to expand our dedicated team by hiring full-time Construction Superintendents.

This role entails overseeing and managing road construction, utility, and paving projects, requiring the candidate to effectively handle project budgets and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Uphold and promote company safety protocols
• Direct field operations to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency
• Organize forepersons and teams to guarantee sufficient job staffing
• Assess and enhance crew productivity while understanding project objectives
• Collaborate with forepersons and teams to establish daily schedules and effectively communicate project goals
• Liaise with owners, agencies, and inspectors
• May engage with union representatives to recruit labor and comprehend labor agreements
• Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and OSHA standards
• Oversee daily job site operations, including material procurement, equipment management, and labor oversight
• Monitor and enforce site safety measures and develop Site-Specific Health and Safety Plans in partnership with the safety department
• Attend meetings and provide technical support as needed

Essential Functions:

• Perform various tasks that may involve lifting heavy items, standing for long periods, stretching, walking, climbing, and bending under potentially challenging field conditions. Must be capable of visual tasks such as backing up and responding to alarms, following safety protocols.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred
• At least 7 years of experience in bridge or heavy highway construction is required
• A minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience
• Ability to adapt to and learn various software applications
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication abilities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Great interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others
• Proficient knowledge of NYSDOT standard specifications related to construction
• Capability to interpret blueprints and analyze project costs
• Ability to fulfill responsibilities in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
• Willingness to travel as required
• Must possess a valid driver's license or reliable transportation for timely reporting to work
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening

Compensation: Salary will be based on experience, with participation in the company bonus plan and an excellent benefits package that includes company-paid health, dental, and vision insurance, along with a company-funded pension plan.

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as relevant work experience, market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, including overtime when applicable.
