About the Role:

The computing infrastructure is essential for the autonomous driving systems that facilitate Level 4 autonomy. As a Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer on the TuSimple compute infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing the next generation of cloud-based infrastructure to ensure scalability, reliability, usability, and maintainability for our extensive and intricate service pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and develop cutting-edge computing infrastructure on cloud platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to pinpoint and deploy optimal cloud solutions.
  • Establish and document best practices and strategies for application deployment, operation, monitoring, and infrastructure upkeep.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to development teams, fostering cloud expertise.
  • Guarantee application performance, availability, and scalability while upholding high standards of code quality and design integrity.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of existing systems and propose enhancements.
  • Oversee cloud environments in alignment with corporate security protocols.
Qualifications:
  • Must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Willingness to work on-site at TuSimple's office three days a week.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in designing, implementing, and testing cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • Proficient in architecting, developing, and deploying large-scale data pipelines and web services.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with workflow management tools such as Airflow and Argo.
  • Experience in distributed big data processing with Spark.
  • Knowledge of database systems, including relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Expertise in monitoring cloud performance, troubleshooting incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with a collaborative team spirit.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • AWS certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience with autonomous driving technologies.
  • Background in web service development, including OpenAPI and Quarkus.
