Essential Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related discipline, or completion of the 90-hour course for activities professionals along with ongoing education.
- Demonstrated management experience is a prerequisite.
- An active driver's license with a clean driving record may be necessary for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and assess a variety of resident-focused activities tailored to individual needs.
- Engage residents in the development of personalized activity programs, ensuring their participation and advocating for their preferences and rights.
- Attend and contribute to various meetings, including resident and family councils, as well as departmental gatherings.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to activities.
- Participate in fundraising initiatives as needed.
- Foster positive relationships with community members, businesses, and organizations through collaborative outings and volunteer-driven activities.
- Identify and address any necessary disciplinary actions.
Desired Skills:
- Thorough understanding of activity practices, state regulations, and guidelines relevant to long-term care.
- Prior leadership experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Ability to make sound independent decisions when required.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff.
- Capability to organize and execute a diverse range of activities.
- Willingness to explore and integrate new methodologies into existing practices.
- Possession of a current state driver's license may be required.
- Certification as a CTRS is mandatory.
