Mental Health Counselor, Clinical Day School

Job Summary

This position reports to the Director of the Clinical Day School and is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic milieu within the school. The ideal candidate will have experience working with adolescents in a school setting and be familiar with psychiatric disorders and age-appropriate behavior management techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Teachers and Teacher Assistants with management of students throughout the school day
  • Assist with vocational placements and classes
  • Document and communicate pertinent information to the Teaching and Administrative staff
  • Contribute to creating a caring and compassionate environment through ECHN's Core Values of Teamwork, Communication, Respect, and Caring
  • Coordinate and provide transportation for adolescents in hospital-owned vehicles (if applicable)
Requirements
  • High School degree or GED equivalent
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in psychology or other human services field (strongly preferred)
  • CPR certification (preferred but not required)
  • Prior experience working with adolescents in a school setting (plus)
  • Prior experience working with adolescents in the Behavioral Health field (beneficial)
Competencies
  • Competent in the use of a personal computer and basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to interact with students effectively, take direction from teachers, and work independently in a multi-tasking environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills using the English language
