Facilities Maintenance Specialist

Overview:
Responsible for the upkeep of the facility, office spaces, grounds, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential, though additional tasks may be assigned as needed:
  • Oversee maintenance of a 440,000 sq. ft. warehouse, transportation areas, corporate offices, truck shop, and surrounding grounds.
  • Ensure the functionality of 4,220 feet of conveyor systems.
  • Maintain air conditioning systems.
  • Service forklifts, pallet jacks, and tuggers.
  • Regularly check and maintain batteries and chargers.
  • Repair and maintain roll-up doors and ramps.
  • Manage the upkeep of grocery carts.
  • Conduct monthly inspections and maintenance of fire extinguishers, ladders, hoists, fire risers, and emergency lighting.
  • Maintain cigarette stamping machinery, including cutters, stampers, and recasers.
  • Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical repairs, including light replacements.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant experience or training is required.

Language Proficiency:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety guidelines, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.

Mathematical Skills:
Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers and common fractions.

Reasoning Skills:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.

Certifications:
Refrigeration and Electrical Licenses are preferred.

Other Skills:
Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, manlifts, saws, paint sprayers, refrigeration gauges, torches, evacuation machines, recovery machines, and electric meters.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently uses hands to handle or feel, reaches with hands and arms, climbs or balances, and communicates verbally. Occasionally, the employee may need to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently encounters high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and risks of electrical shock. Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud.

Protective Equipment:
Employees are required to wear steel-toed boots, safety glasses, gloves, aprons, face shields, welding shields, ear protection, safety harnesses, and freezer suits as necessary.
