Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Career Counselor to join our team at the Hartford Job Corps Center. As a Career Counselor, you will be responsible for delivering counseling services to assigned residential and non-residential students, providing individual and group support to help them overcome personal challenges and achieve their career aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contact assigned students prior to scheduled arrival to welcome them and provide information about the center's behavioral standards.
  • Meet and greet assigned arrivals at the designated time, providing a warm and supportive environment for students to feel comfortable and secure.
  • Conduct intake assessments during the first 48 hours of enrollment, documenting student history and submitting a copy to the Health and Wellness center for review and inclusion in the student health record.
  • Provide ongoing individual social development and adjustment counseling, scheduling and conducting regular sessions to monitor student progress and address any emerging issues.
  • Schedule and conduct monthly group support sessions to identify and address specific issues, such as abuse, relationships, childcare, homesickness, language, and cultural barriers.
  • Identify students who require more intensive services and refer them to appropriate resources, ensuring intervention, implementation, and documentation of strategies to address personal issues, including mental health, medical issues, and English Language Learners.
  • Update student Personal Career Development Plans (PCDPs) on an ongoing basis, cooperating with staff to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Ensure the availability of counseling services on weekends and in emergency situations, providing a safe and supportive environment for students to access help when needed.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this role is $50,000-$60,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, 401K, 10 paid holidays, and paid vacation.
