ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and skilled Teacher for Visually Impaired Students to join our team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and experience working with students who are visually impaired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans tailored to meet the specific needs of students with visual impairments.
  • Provide direct and consultative services to visually impaired students, adapting educational materials and using assistive technology as needed.
  • Teach students the use of Braille, large print, and other accessible learning tools to ensure academic success and independence.
  • Instruct students in Orientation and Mobility (O&M) skills, such as navigating classrooms, school buildings, and outdoor areas safely.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education for the Visually Impaired, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Louisiana for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
  • Proficiency in Braille and experience with adaptive technology and tools for students with visual impairments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, flexibility, and ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
