Position Overview: Advanced Practice Provider - Orthopedics
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Provider in Orthopedics is responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care in alignment with established clinical standards. This role emphasizes both health promotion and the management of acute and chronic conditions. Collaborating closely with physicians, the provider will perform essential medical services, including data collection, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and direct patient care, which encompasses physical examinations, diagnoses, and treatment protocols. Additionally, the provider will assist in surgical procedures and manage post-operative care as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves working in both an outpatient clinical setting and conducting rounds in a hospital environment. Flexibility to work nights and weekends is necessary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist in identifying medical and surgical issues, prescribing appropriate treatments, and ensuring high-quality patient care. Review diagnostic tests and take necessary actions based on individual practice scope. Engage in research activities as a Primary Investigator or Sub-Investigator in clinical trials.
- Gather patient histories, perform thorough physical assessments, and document findings accurately. Prepare comprehensive patient workups and summaries, ensuring all relevant psychosocial histories are included to support effective patient care.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures, explaining the importance and expected outcomes to patients. Secure informed consent and liaise with specialists as needed.
- Execute therapeutic interventions such as cast application, wound suturing, and dressing changes. Monitor patient progress, report findings to supervising physicians, and maintain detailed records of each patient's treatment journey.
- Formulate diagnoses and develop tailored treatment plans for patients. Provide education on disease management and promote healthy lifestyle choices. Conduct follow-up examinations post-procedures and hospitalizations.
- Offer clinical guidance and serve as a resource for office staff in the absence of supervising physicians.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful candidates will possess a minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, with a preference for experience in an orthopedic setting.
Educational requirements include a Master's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited PA program, along with National Board Certification, or a valid nursing license with NP approval in the State of Georgia and National Certification.
CERTIFICATIONS:
CPR and ACLS certifications are required.
