Role Responsibilities:

The Sustainability Lead will evaluate environmental impacts, focusing on energy consumption and emissions, while formulating strategies for resource conservation, renewable energy utilization, and operational efficiency. This role requires staying informed about external sustainability trends, assessing their implications for our products and clientele, and ensuring compliance with building regulations.

Key Duties Include:

  • Formulating and assessing strategies to enhance conservation efforts, increase renewable resource utilization, and minimize energy costs and waste.
  • Conducting carbon assessments for primary product lines through life cycle evaluations.
  • Collaborating with the sustainability team to identify and implement improvements in environmental performance across product ranges.
  • Interpreting policy documents, ESG objectives, and sustainability targets to communicate relevant information to stakeholders.
  • Maintaining and enhancing certifications that reflect the company's sustainability credentials, including Cradle-to-Cradle and Health Product certifications.
  • Creating declarations and Material Passports for products.
  • Supporting the introduction of Lower Embodied Carbon options in the market, backed by validated evidence of product benefits.
  • Staying abreast of emerging trends in the built environment, including policy changes and customer expectations, and sharing insights with relevant teams.
  • Evaluating the environmental footprint, including energy and waste emissions.
  • Recommending modifications to facility designs, systems, and energy management programs.

Expectations:

  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and Compliance Policies.
  • Ensure compliance with product-related regulations and market requirements.
  • Report any compliance-related concerns to supervisors or through the designated whistleblower service.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Sustainability, or a related discipline.
  • Three to five years of experience in sustainability or environmental science.
  • Experience with Life Cycle Assessments and Environmental Product Declarations is preferred; training will be provided.
  • Demonstrated experience in sustainability roles within the building or construction sector, with a strong understanding of decarbonization.
  • Knowledge of environmental certifications relevant to manufacturing processes.
  • Technical expertise in product manufacturing and delivery processes.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
