Harris-Stowe State University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Women's Basketball Coach to join our team.
Job Summary:The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach in all management aspects of the women's basketball team. This includes assisting with practice, games, and recruitment of players each season, while adhering to University and NAIA rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Recruitment and Player Development: Assist in recruiting prospective student-athletes and develop a comprehensive plan to attract top talent to the team.
- Practice and Game Preparation: Assist the Head Coach in preparing the team for games and practices, including developing game strategies and making adjustments as needed.
- Academic Support: Work closely with student-athletes to ensure their academic success, including providing guidance on course selection, study habits, and time management.
- Team Management: Assist with the coordination and planning of team activities, including travel, accommodations, and meal arrangements.
- Communication and Community Engagement: Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, alumni, parents, and the community, while promoting the university's mission and values.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., sports management, education, or a related field).
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a women's basketball coach or in a related role.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Certifications: Current certification in first aid and CPR, with the ability to obtain any necessary certifications.
