Job Overview

We are looking for a proficient Excavation Equipment Operator to become a part of our team at Pieper Houston Electric. This position involves the operation of heavy machinery to aid in various construction and installation tasks. The primary responsibility will be to perform excavation and trenching activities to support the installation of electrical lines, conduits, and related infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Efficiently and safely operate excavation machinery to execute trenching and excavation in accordance with project specifications.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to devise optimal excavation strategies and layouts.
  • Skillfully maneuver equipment in confined spaces and around existing structures to minimize disruption and ensure accuracy.
  • Conduct thorough pre-operational inspections on machinery to guarantee proper functioning and address any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized work environment, including the machinery and surrounding area, to uphold safety standards and enhance project efficiency.
  • Strictly adhere to safety protocols and regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with site-specific safety guidelines.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment as required to support project needs.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks, address concerns, and ensure adherence to project timelines.
  • Exhibit a commitment to quality craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail in all tasks performed.
  • Stay informed about company and industry best practices and safety standards.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Certification or training in heavy equipment operation, particularly with excavation machinery.
  • 3-5 years of experience operating excavation equipment in a construction or contracting environment, preferably within the electrical sector.
  • Proficient understanding of excavation techniques, soil types, and trenching requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Physical stamina and strength to endure long hours of outdoor work and operate heavy machinery in various weather conditions.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
