Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Accounting Leader to oversee, monitor, and assess daily operational activities within the accounting department. This role involves preparing and reviewing the organization’s consolidated and subsidiary financial statements in compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards. The Senior Accounting Leader will ensure that all tasks are completed timely and accurately, while collaborating with Finance leadership and various internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage the daily functions of the accounting department, including month-end and year-end processes, accounts payable/receivable, cash management, general ledger activities, treasury functions, and fixed asset management.
- Analyze accounting data and generate comprehensive financial reports or statements.
- Establish and maintain detailed fiscal records to document all transactions.
- Enforce adherence to proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
- Collaborate with controllership and team members for the preparation of monthly closing reports and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate and facilitate annual audits.
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and related disclosures for compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
- Oversee the preparation of subsidiary financial statements for various reporting obligations.
- Implement new revenue recognition standards and lease accounting practices in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
- Draft accounting memos to document significant issues and transactions for review by senior management and external auditors.
- Manage monthly reporting to parent companies and prepare reconciliations and variance analyses.
- Ensure compliance and alignment of the company’s accounting policies with those of the parent group.
- Develop and manage financial accounting and reporting policies, ensuring effective communication and adherence across the organization.
- Maintain and update internal control policies and procedures, providing necessary documentation for internal audits.
- Support shareholders in preparing tax provision calculations and year-end tax packages for submission to the global tax team.
- Review and manage the completion of necessary government filings.
- Execute special projects as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or ACCA preferred.
- At least ten (10) years of professional experience in accounting.
- A minimum of three (3) years in Public Accounting or five (5) years in Financial Reporting.
- Experience managing a team of three or more individuals.
- Familiarity with general ledger systems and reporting tools, particularly SAP and Costpoint.
- In-depth knowledge of revenue recognition and consolidation processes.
- Experience in developing financial statements including Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and Cash Flow Statements.
- Understanding of revenue recognition under GAAP/IFRS 15 and development of Estimates at Complete (EAC).
- Experience managing financial statement audits.
- Prior experience in manufacturing is advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting policies and procedures.
- Meticulous attention to detail in preparing and reviewing financial statements and disclosures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to analyze and reconcile consolidated financial data accurately and promptly.
- Strong communication skills, capable of articulating accounting policies and procedures effectively.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding sensitive information.
- Proactive in identifying and addressing potential issues collaboratively.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Coordinate effectively across various corporate offices.
- Ability to carry and lift documents or equipment up to 20 lbs.
- Capable of sitting for extended periods during meetings and at a computer.
- Ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
