The New York Public Library is seeking a dynamic and innovative Children's Librarian to join our team at the Parkchester Library. As a key member of our staff, you will play a crucial role in cultivating creative thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and resourceful users of information among children.

About the Job
  • Develop and implement engaging programs for children, including book discussions, author talks, technology classes, financial literacy sessions, arts and wellness activities, and other community-driven initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Educational Services Department to design and deliver educational content that meets the diverse needs of our community's children population.
  • Budget: $65,000 - $75,000 per year (estimated salary)
Responsibilities
  • Provide expert reference service and resource recommendations using print, media, and digital resources.
  • Build and maintain a diverse and current children's collection, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our community.
  • Conduct outreach to community-based organizations, city support agencies, educational institutions, and local businesses to promote library services and programs.
  • Mentor library staff in preparing and presenting children programs.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Library and Information Studies from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Public Librarian's Professional Certificate issued by the State of New York.
  • Strong commitment to public service and ability to work well with diverse patronage.
