Magnet Medical is seeking a travel Cath Lab Technologist for a long-term assignment in Washington.

About the Job

The successful candidate will work alongside cardiologists and other medical professionals to perform diagnostic and interventional procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab.

  • Hours per Week: 40.0
Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-Procedure Preparation:
    • Ensure all necessary equipment is sterile, functional, and properly set up before procedures begin.
    • Verify patient information, including medical history, allergies, and consent forms.
    • Assist in preparing patients for procedures, including setting up monitoring equipment.
    • Provide patient education and reassurance before procedures.
  • Assisting with Procedures:
    • Assist cardiologists during cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, and electrophysiological studies.
    • Handle sterile instruments during procedures, ensuring correct placement and maintaining a sterile field.
    • Operate X-ray fluoroscopy equipment and assist with imaging during diagnostic tests.
    • Monitor vital signs during procedures and report any abnormalities to the physician.
    • Administer medications under physician direction.
  • Post-Procedure Care:
    • Monitor patients for complications after procedures, such as bleeding or changes in vital signs.
    • Assist in transferring patients from procedure tables to recovery areas.
    • Help with patient recovery by monitoring cardiac rhythm and vital signs.
    • Provide post-procedure instructions to patients and their families.
  • Equipment Management and Maintenance:
    • Maintain, clean, and sterilize cath lab equipment and instruments.
    • Regularly check and troubleshoot cath lab machinery.
    • Order necessary supplies and manage inventory.
    • Assist in calibrating equipment to ensure accurate results.
  • Patient Monitoring and Safety:
    • Continuously monitor patient vital signs during procedures.
    • Ensure proper documentation of patient information and procedures.
    • Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
    • Monitor catheter insertion sites for complications.
  • Collaboration with Medical Team:
    • Work closely with cardiologists, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Attend pre-procedure meetings to review patient conditions and provide input on procedures.
    • Assist in evaluating diagnostic test results to support treatment plans.
  • Education and Training:
    • Stay up-to-date with advancements in cardiac catheterization techniques and best practices.
    • Participate in ongoing education and certification programs.
    • Educate patients about their conditions and procedures.
    • Assist in training new staff or students in the cath lab environment.
