Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Paralegal or Law Clerk to join our legal team at Sweegen. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in organizing and managing our intellectual property (IP) portfolio, assisting the General Counsel and executive team with administrative and legal tasks, and ensuring that all deadlines are met in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

IP Portfolio Management:
  • Organize, Maintain, and Update IP Portfolio: The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing, maintaining, and updating the company's IP portfolio, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  • Track and Manage IP-Related Deadlines: The candidate will track and manage all IP-related deadlines, including filings, renewals, and responses to office actions.
  • Coordinate with External Counsel and IP Offices: The Paralegal/Law Clerk will coordinate with external counsel and IP offices as necessary to ensure the timely submission of documents.
Legal Support:
  • Assist General Counsel with Legal Research: The candidate will assist the General Counsel with legal research, drafting, and review of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare and Organize Legal Documents: The Paralegal/Law Clerk will prepare and organize legal documents for transactions, litigation, and compliance matters.
  • Conduct Due Diligence and Gather Documentation: The candidate will conduct due diligence and gather necessary documentation for IP filings and other legal processes.
Administrative Support:
  • Provide Administrative Support to General Counsel and Executive Team: The Paralegal/Law Clerk will provide administrative support to the General Counsel and executive team, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and preparing presentations.
  • Assist in Report Preparation: The candidate will assist in the preparation of reports, summaries, and legal memoranda.
  • Maintain Accurate Filing Systems: The Paralegal/Law Clerk will maintain accurate and organized filing systems for all legal documents and correspondence.
Deadline Management:
  • Monitor and Follow Up on Deadlines: The candidate will monitor and follow up on all legal and IP-related deadlines to ensure compliance and prevent any lapses.
  • Provide Timely Reminders: The Paralegal/Law Clerk will provide timely reminders to the General Counsel and relevant team members about upcoming deadlines and required actions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Paralegal certification is preferred.
  • 2+ Years of Experience: The candidate will have 2+ years of experience as a paralegal, law clerk, or in a related legal role, preferably with a focus on intellectual property.
  • Understanding of IP Law: The Paralegal/Law Clerk will have an understanding of intellectual property law and procedures.
  • Excellent Organizational Skills: The candidate will have excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to Manage Multiple Tasks: The Paralegal/Law Clerk will be able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: The candidate will have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
  • Strong Communication Skills: The Paralegal/Law Clerk will have strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to Work Independently and as Part of a Team: The candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team.
