Metal Stamping Press Technician

- Oversee multiple press operations efficiently.
- Manage operations via sophisticated automation systems.
- Generate daily job assignments utilizing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Handle all setup tasks, including coil loading, leveler adjustments, and die alignment for presses ranging from 90 to 1600 tons.
- Operate tow motors for die changeovers and pre-staging of products.
- Ensure the production of quality components, both dimensional and visual.
- Adhere to Process Data Sheets (PDS) and Documentation Management System (DMS) procedures during job execution and setup.
- Follow established safety protocols, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Equipment Safety Analysis (ESA), and Area Safety Analysis (ASA).
- Maintain environmental compliance as instructed by supervisors or environmental teams.
- Communicate effectively with shift supervisors, tooling engineers, quality engineers, and colleagues on opposite shifts regarding production issues and quality matters.
- Conduct Statistical Process Control (SPC) in designated areas.
- Monitor lubrication to prevent die shearing, ensure proper part placement, manage scrap buildup, and report any die-related issues to tooling personnel.
- Set dies within scheduled timeframes to meet customer demands.
- Organize tools and equipment to facilitate efficient die changes and ensure the next job is pre-staged with necessary dies and materials.
- Be capable of independently managing operations and responsible for all reporting, including parts completion and downtime reports.
- Align and secure top and bottom die sections, ensuring the proper functioning of safety devices and adapting dies for specialized operations.
- Maintain cleanliness in work areas as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school level reading and writing proficiency.
- Mechanical aptitude with above-average dexterity.
- Tow motor/lift truck certification is mandatory.
- Blueprint reading skills are advantageous.
- Basic mathematical skills, including percentages, decimals, addition, and subtraction.
- Familiarity with press operations, dies, and setup procedures.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Experience in a production environment, meeting schedules and rates, with the capability to change dies within standard timeframes.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a non-repetitive basis.
- Physical strength to maneuver dies across bolster plates.
- Exposure to lubricants, oils, and greases.
- Willingness to work overtime, including weekends.
- Accountability for quality, productivity, and safety objectives.
- Requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, or moving about.
- Involves repetitive turning and lifting motions.
- Must perform job duties while wearing appropriate protective equipment, including eye, ear, and foot protection as required.
