Avionics Chief Engineer

At Blue Origin, we are pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As an Avionics Chief Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the technical integrity and compliance of our spacecraft avionics systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for the development and integration of avionics systems across multiple product lines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive technical decisions and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical baselines and standards for avionics systems, ensuring consistency and quality across the organization.
  • Lead the resolution of complex technical issues and risks, working closely with program managers and engineers to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in advanced spacecraft avionics design, development, or analysis, including FPGA design and analog/digital circuit design engineering.
  • Proven experience as a Chief Engineer on space-rated avionics development programs, with a strong background in both analog and digital circuit design engineering.
  • Experience with launch vehicle avionics and architectures, as well as spacecraft Flight Software architectures, design, and engineering.
  • Strong understanding of various space environments as it relates to avionics design to ensure radiation hardness/tolerance and reliability.
  • Experience in full life-cycle development of spacecraft and/or satellite avionics hardware, integration & test, launch and mission operations support.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. in an engineering-related field.
  • Experience in full life-cycle development of spacecraft and/or satellite avionics software/firmware development, integration, testing, and formal verification.
