Position Overview:

The Risk Control Specialist will report to a Risk Control Manager or Regional Manager, and may also have a dotted line reporting relationship to specific team and practice leaders.

This role involves applying risk management and control techniques in the selection, management, and retention of client accounts. The focus will be on assessing client exposures and controls, and developing strategies to enhance client performance.

The Risk Control Specialist will work collaboratively within a team environment while also managing individual service responsibilities. A significant portion of the workload will involve client service and special projects related to the area of expertise.

The specialist will engage in industry or practice teams and contribute to the development of content, including programs from the Organizational Safety Institute and PMA Websource exhibits. Additionally, the Risk Control Specialist will support the Risk Control Manager in internal education, development, and service review activities.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Assess existing and potential clients through comprehensive risk management evaluations across various business segments and insurance lines, including workers compensation, commercial auto, general liability, and property.

2. Plan, coordinate, and deliver consultative services tailored to clients' actual and potential loss exposures, adhering to departmental service management guidelines.

3. Collaborate with colleagues to address client service and agency relations within the scope of specialization.

4. Work closely with Underwriting and Claims departments to manage accounts and actively participate in the account management process.

5. Utilize analytics to support strategic plans and recommendations, demonstrating the correlation between service strategies and client improvements through the stewardship process.

6. Deliver impactful presentations to various organizational levels, either individually or as part of a team.

7. Manage workload effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.

8. Communicate progress to the team through verbal and written methods in accordance with departmental policies and during workload reviews with the Risk Control Manager.

9. Meet all departmental requirements under the Service Review (QA) policy.

10. Uphold the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, applying knowledge of compliance policies, procedures, standards, and laws relevant to job responsibilities.


Qualifications:
1. Minimum of five years of experience in risk control, risk management, or safety within the area of specialization.

2. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.

3. Professional certifications in the area of specialization, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate in Risk Management designation, are preferred.

4. Ability to understand organizational operations through research, observation, and discussions with client contacts.

5. Proficiency in translating understanding into effective communications with clients, brokers, and colleagues.

6. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

7. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

8. Experience with business analytics is preferred.

9. Proficient in MS Office applications.

10. Knowledge of relevant standards such as OSHA and DOT.

11. Familiarity with emerging issues and current trends within the area of specialization.

12. Willingness to travel within assigned territory, including some overnight travel.

13. Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

14. Ability to navigate client locations safely, including climbing ladders and stairs to assess exposures and walking in various environments.
