Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Coordinator to join our team at the Virginia Department of Transportation. This part-time position will be located at the BOWD center in Sandston, VA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Business Opportunity and Workforce Development Center with business functions such as SPCC, expense reimbursement, requisitions, POs, generating budget reports, and other duties as assigned.
  • Provide administrative support to the team, including data collection and analysis, report preparation, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date records and files.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Experience with SPCC and Cardinal Expense Reimbursements, POs, Requisitions.
  • Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, including GAAP.
  • Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of business principles and procedures.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply state laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill in collecting and analyzing data and preparing reports or presentations.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial information and prepare accurate status reports.
  • Knowledge of procurement practices and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in financial computer programs, MS Word, Excel.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Knowledge of records management and retention procedures and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A combination of training, experience, or education in the business or accounting or related field.
  • Administrative experience coordinating a variety of business functions for a designated program area.

VDOT utilizes a market-based pay program, which has been approved by DHRM. Therefore, advertised rates of pay may or may not align with the Commonwealth pay bands.

This position requires a fingerprint-based Criminal History Background Check, DMV Record Check, and Work History Verification with references.
