Job Summary

The Clinician is a vital member of our team at Phoenix House, providing individual, family, and group therapy, case management counseling, crisis intervention, and advocacy services to families, children, and other clients. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality care and support to our clients, while maintaining a safe and respectful environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical work and therapeutic services to clients and families, as measured by supervision and direct observation.
  • Comply with productivity standards and maintain an appropriate caseload to meet budgeted daily expectations.
  • Submit timely documentation, including progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, and notes to chart, as outlined in policy and measured via productivity reports.
  • Continually assess client needs and symptoms, formulating a psychosocial diagnosis, gathering history, and determining the most appropriate method of providing treatment.
  • Accurately document all work with clients and families, as measured by QA standards and peer review audit results.
  • Participate in clinical/case supervision, coming prepared to discuss current caseload, documentation, and productivity, and accepting constructive feedback and direction.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, and community, working effectively within the Agency and community at large.
  • Advocate and ensure accompaniment for clients, with the goal of ensuring satisfactory placement of a child in a safe, permanent, and stable home setting.
  • Maintain knowledge of program standards and policies, as developed by Phoenix House, CARF, Community Care Licensing, SAPC, DMH, and other governing bodies.
  • Maintain overall confidentiality of client information, operations of the Agency, and other sensitive information.
  • Incorporate Agency philosophy and mission in all aspects of job performance.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with clients, staff, and other outside stakeholders at all times.
  • Exercise good judgment in the performance of duties and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.
  • AMFT or ACSW with current California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) Registration required.
  • LMFT or LCSW with current California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) Registration a plus.
  • Maintain licensure as a condition of employment.
  • Experience in Substance Abuse or Mental Health preferred.
  • Experience with SPAC, DMH, Community Care Licensing, and other governing bodies preferred.
  • Evidenced-Based Trained/Certified in MAP, TF-CBT, SS Preferred.
  • Maintain a valid California Drivers' License, have proof of automobile insurance, and maintain a safe driving record based on Phoenix House policy.

  • Proficiency in MS Office systems.
  • Ability to utilize an electronic medical record.
  • Proficiency with SPAC, DMH, Community Care Licensing, and other governing bodies.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Ability to establish and consistently enforce appropriate boundaries with patients.
  • Ability to model positive behavior and demeanor.
  • Understanding of addiction, co-occurring models, and treatment modalities.
  • Understanding of adult/adolescent development and family systems.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be flexible, problem solver, self-directed, customer service-oriented, and collaborative.
  • Skills and ability to engage and develop a rapport with patients and families of various backgrounds.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
