About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join WSP's Geospatial/Survey Team in Merrimack, NH, with additional locations in Worcester and Boston, MA. As an Instrument Operator, you will be part of a growing organization that delivers innovative solutions to meet client objectives and challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from property/utility records, deeds, land/property titles, structural plans, and other matrices for land surveying activities.
  • Use survey instruments to perform various types of property surveys on projects of basic complexity and/or scope, which could include boundary, existing condition, topographic, as-built, subdivision, and profile maps.
  • Provide entry-level land surveying assistance that accounts for accurate survey data, and determines conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, boundaries, and construction specifications.
  • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications related to site inspection and survey findings using photographs, sketches, calculations, software, spreadsheets, technical drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, and reports.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, studies and surveys, and construction.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma.
  • 0 to 2 years experience.
  • General awareness of land survey principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.
  • General awareness of relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.
  • Ability to work independently under supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with survey equipment (e.g. Leica Robotic Total Station), AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or Geopak.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
