Retail Operations Supervisor

The Retail Operations Supervisor will collaborate closely with the Store Manager to ensure a cohesive message and optimal performance across the studio. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Retail Operations Supervisor will provide guidance and support to the team. This role is also responsible for driving sales and delivering exceptional customer service aligned with the Design Within Reach mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales Achievement: Meet or surpass personal and studio sales targets.
  2. Enhance customer engagement with the brand by increasing email subscriptions within the studio.
  3. Proactively seek new business opportunities weekly using company tools and programs.
  4. Utilize product knowledge and design expertise to effectively communicate merchandise features and advantages.
  5. Assist customers in a friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaged manner.
  6. Recommend additional products based on customer assessments.
  7. Facilitate sales closure by preparing quotes and following up with customers.
  8. Coordinate and host a minimum of four design-related events annually to strengthen DWR's presence in the local design community.
  9. Manage merchandise returns and address customer issues positively.
  10. Process customer orders in accordance with company protocols.
  11. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Design Within Reach products.
  12. Stay informed on product communications and materials from corporate.
  13. Exhibit enthusiasm for design, including knowledge of designers and the design industry.
  14. Participate in studio meetings, share insights with peers, and utilize online resources and catalogs.
  15. Support the studio's design and cleanliness standards.
  16. Assist with floor and fixture adjustments.
  17. Receive, process, and ship products efficiently.
  18. Adhere to visual standards to ensure the studio consistently meets company expectations.
  19. Maintain a tidy workspace, backroom, and restroom facilities.
  20. Assist with basic studio maintenance tasks.
  21. Implement loss prevention strategies and comply with safety protocols.
  22. Collaborate effectively with customers, team members, and corporate contacts.
  23. Foster a positive team environment and adhere to company policies regarding attendance, conduct, dress code, and employee benefits.
  24. Communicate constructively with corporate offices when addressing customer concerns.

Qualifications:

This position may be ideal for you if you possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Prior experience or education in design or architecture is preferred.
  • Able to identify customer needs and provide solutions, as well as articulate product features and benefits.
  • Design-savvy with a keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Experience in a retail environment, particularly in commission-based sales, is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and proficiency in MS Office and web navigation.
  • Capable of lifting objects over 20 pounds and using basic tools for merchandising tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional problem-solving abilities.
