Role Summary:

The T&L Instructional Specialist for Secondary ELA will play a pivotal role in providing educational support and coaching to both building and district-level instructional coaches, as well as secondary ELA educators. This position is crucial in the effective implementation of district curriculum resources and evidence-based instructional strategies, aligned with the objectives outlined in the SCSD Strategic Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Support: Collaborate with instructional coaches and secondary ELA teachers to design and implement engaging, culturally responsive instruction that meets the diverse learning needs of all students.
  • Data Analysis: Assist educators in understanding and utilizing data to enhance equitable access to learning, working closely with the Office of Shared Accountability.
  • Curriculum Development: Support coaches and teachers in deepening their understanding of content while ensuring alignment with standards and assessments.
  • Professional Development: Deliver ongoing training and support tailored to the needs of teachers and district leaders, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record of fostering academic success among diverse student populations, with significant experience in curriculum development and instructional practices. A minimum of five years of teaching experience and three years in a leadership role is required, along with appropriate New York State Teacher Certification.
