Clinical Nurse II Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the Pulmonary/Infectious Disease Acute Care Unit at UNC Medical Center. As a per diem RN, you will have the flexibility to work on an as-needed basis, ensuring that we provide exceptional patient care while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
About the RoleThis is a per diem position requiring a minimum of 12 hours every two weeks, with one summer and one winter holiday each year. You will be working on a 31-bed medicine floor that provides quality acute care for patients with pulmonary and infectious diseases.
Responsibilities- Education and Development: Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and others, attending education programs based on identified learning needs, and using patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
- Evaluation of Care: Identify expected patient outcomes, seek guidance as needed in revision of plan of care, participate in discussion with members of the interdisciplinary team in evaluation of patient care, and communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
- Implementation: Demonstrate competence in care of patients with complex problems, including population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care, perform bedside point-of-care testing as required for the patient care plan, and utilize healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in delivery of care.
- Leadership: Develop goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations, achieve goals and objectives within identified time frames or renegotiate with supervisor, be knowledgeable about activities that facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration, and participate in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.
- Patient Assessment: Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, include appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs, synthesize assessment data into meaningful wholes prior to communication to others, assess and anticipate discharge needs of individual patients and families, and develop relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate for the patient and their own needs.
- Planning: Collaborate with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care, make use of available multidisciplinary resources in planning care, begin to use full range of communication as a means to convey planning, identify and address cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care, and demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.
Requirements:
- Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
- BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
- One (1) year of relevant and current experience required.
