Harrison Steel Castings Co. is seeking a highly skilled Furnace Supervisor to oversee the operation of our electric arc furnaces. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of hourly employees, ensuring the quality of metal grades, and adhering to process standards.
Key Responsibilities- Team Management: Train, plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule specific production activities based on the Furnace department and their customer, the Foundry department.
- Process Optimization: Coordinate with the Foundry and molding lines to schedule processing, batch times, and orders.
- Quality Control: Track data and processes to ensure proper processing.
- Supply Chain Management: Ensure necessary supplies are on hand.
- Maintenance and Repair: Monitor equipment status and report any problems to Maintenance or Engineering.
- Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and at least one year of related experience or training.
- Preferred Qualifications: Engineering Technology degree, basic knowledge of computers and mathematics, and metallurgical knowledge.
The Furnace Supervisor will work in a fast-paced production environment with occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate in the office and very loud in the Furnace department. Our Production buildings are not climate controlled, with temperatures reaching 100 degrees in the summer and below 40 degrees in the winter. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
