Job Overview

This position plays a crucial role in supporting early childhood facilities in establishing developmentally appropriate learning environments. The successful candidate will provide on-site mentoring, guidance for lesson planning, and assistance in improving the skills of child care providers. Additionally, they will conduct assessments, model best practices, and facilitate the attainment of Texas Rising Star (TRS) certification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement TRS provider-related activities, including assessments, reassessments, technical assistance, renewals, monitoring visits, and required paperwork.
  • Ensure regular on-site visits to TRS sites, providing detailed reports to Child Care Solutions Managers.
  • Recruit child care providers, provide on-site training, and assist in ordering materials and resources for the TRS program.
  • Maintain and update Texas Rising Star Files, as well as the TWIST Application and Child Care Provider Database.
  • Develop instructional materials, provide trainings, and plan early childhood trainings to improve the quality of child care.
  • Monitor TRS providers for Child Care Attendance Automation (CCAA) compliance and negotiate, issue, and ensure compliance with Service Improvement Agreements (SIAs) as necessary.
  • Facilitate developmentally appropriate learning activities, interpret and communicate provider policies and procedures, and complete the TRS Provider Activity Report.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, child psychology, educational psychology, elementary education, or family consumer science.
  • One year of full-time early childhood classroom experience in a child care, Early Head Start, Head Start, or prekindergarten through third grade school program.
  • Best practices in early childhood education, understanding of early childhood evaluations, observations, and assessments, and proficiency in Infant/Toddler Environmental Rating Scale (ITERS), Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale (ECERS-R), and other assessment tools.
  • Understanding of TRS Certification Guidelines and the minimum standards of Texas child care licensing, bilingual skills, and ability to relate to individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, child psychology, educational psychology, elementary education, or family consumer science with two years of experience as a director in an early childhood program.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel skills, Internet, and comfort using email and entering data on a PC tablet.
  • Detail-oriented with strong oral and written communication skills, basic administrative skills, and ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
