About the Role

This position is responsible for providing administrative and program support to the Aquatics Department at the YMCA of Southern Maine.

The ideal candidate will have strong swimming skills and prior experience in aquatics, preferably working with youth.

Responsibilities include scheduling support, swim lesson administration, inclusion, programming, operations and safety, teaching, leadership, relationship building, and data collection and tracking.

The successful candidate will be able to maintain accurate and consistent data tracking and documentation, as required.

Additional responsibilities may include lifeguarding, swim instruction, and water exercise classes.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years' prior aquatics experience
  • Strong swimming skills
  • Current certifications, or ability to obtain and maintain with YMCA support
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to welcome and include people from all dimensions of diversity
  • Proven ability to take initiative and is self-motivated
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and databases
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with non-English speakers
  • Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel locally
  • A clean record as determined through criminal background check and fingerprinting

Salary and Benefits:

$18.00 - $18.50/hour, depending on experience

Hours: 11:30 am/12:00 noon – 8:00 pm
