The Director of Assessment and Accreditation will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of University assessment and accreditation compliance, ensuring alignment with the institutional mission and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment Strategy and Planning
- Develop and implement a comprehensive assessment strategy that promotes awareness of the University's mission and strategic goals.
- Collaborate with academic and administrative units to ensure effective assessment practices.
- Assessment Process Management
- Manage the assessment process, including notification of report due dates and follow-up with support as needed.
- Coordinate with leadership offices to facilitate the implementation of educational and institutional effectiveness procedures.
- Accreditation and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with the Educational Effectiveness Policy and Procedures governing assessment of student learning and achievement of educational goals.
- Oversee learning outcomes assessment of all University programs and general education assessment at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Training and Resources
- Provide training for faculty and administrators in all aspects of assessment.
- Maintain and create assessment resources that support all aspects of assessment.
- Reporting and Communication
- Produce annual reports on learning outcomes and general education assessment.
- Communicate the results of all assessment to administration for planning purposes.
- Program Review and Accreditation
- Manage the academic program review (APR) process, including training of faculty and maintenance of resources.
- Support accredited programs in the writing and submission of all annual reports, self-studies, and special responses.
- Accrediting Body Standards
- Maintain familiarity with standards of all accrediting bodies affiliated with University programs.
- Assessment Forms and Rubrics
- Update all resource materials (e.g., handbooks, guidelines, videos, PowerPoints) that support assessment and accreditation.
- Assessment Calendar and Updates
- Maintain a calendar of all assessment and accreditation activities.
- Ensure that senior administration is informed of all deadlines and required University responses.
- University Assessment Update
- Produce a monthly University Assessment Update for the University community.
- SharePoint Site and Resources
- Maintain a SharePoint site with all assessment information and resources.
- Compliance and Accreditation
- Monitor University compliance with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) standards, especially Standard V: Educational Effectiveness Assessment and the assessment component of Standard VI: Planning, Resources, and Institutional Improvement.
- Electronic Course Evaluation System
- Serve as the University administrator of the electronic course evaluation system.
- NYSED Compliance
- Support programs in writing and submission of applications and responses to the New York State Department of Higher Education (NYSED).
- Syllabus Template and Training
- Develop and distribute a NYSED-compliant syllabus template for use by all faculty.
- Provide training in syllabus writing.
- Course Evaluation Data and Resources
- Maintain and create resources for faculty and students who use the electronic course evaluation system.
- Liaison to Executive Policy Team
- Act as liaison to the Executive Policy Team to ensure compliance with policy review schedule, updating of procedures, and policy creation process.
- Internal Audits and Continuous Improvement
- Participate and generate required materials for internal audits of University assessment processes.
- Plan and execute continuous improvement measures that ensure compliance with NYSED and MSCHE requirements, alignment with best practices in assessment, and progress toward the University mission and strategic goals.
