The Director of Assessmentprovidesoversight and guidance for all aspects of University assessment and accreditationcompliance in furtherance of the institutional mission and strategic goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

Promotes awareness of the Universitymission and strategic goals through effective assessment practices. Manages the assessment process foracademic and administrative units; notifies units of report due dates andensures that deadlines are met; follows up with support where needed. Coordinates with other leadership officesto facilitate the implementation of educational and institutional effectivenessprocedures. Adheres to the Educational EffectivenessPolicy and Procedures governing assessment of student learning and achievement ofeducational goals. Oversees learning outcomes assessment ofall University programs and general education assessment at the undergraduateand graduate levels. Collaborates with faculty assessmentfellows to provide peer support for assessment of program learning outcomes andthe general education curriculum. Provides training for faculty andadministrators in all aspects of assessment. Maintains and creates assessmentresources that support all aspects of assessment; keeps resources updated andensures their accessibility to faculty and administrators. Produces annual reports on learningoutcomes and general education assessment. Communicates the results of allassessment to administration for planning purposes. Manages the academic program review (APR)process, including training of faculty, maintenance of resources, and generalsupport throughout the process. Supports accredited programs in thewriting and submission of all annual reports, self-studies, and specialresponses. Maintains familiarity with standards ofall accrediting bodies affiliated with University programs. Adheres to the InstitutionalEffectiveness Policy and Procedures governing assessment of planning, resourceallocation, institutional renewal processes, and availability of resources. Maintains updated assessment forms andrubrics to ensure clarity, relevance, and usefulness to faculty andadministrators. Updates all resource materials (e.g., handbooks,guidelines, videos, PowerPoints) that support assessment and accreditation. Maintains a calendar of all assessmentand accreditation activities; ensures that senior administration is informed ofall deadlines and required University responses. Produces a monthly University AssessmentUpdate for the University community. Maintains a SharePoint site with allassessment information and resources. Monitors on a regular basis Universitycompliance with the of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE),especially Standard V: Educational Effectiveness Assessment and the assessmentcomponent of Standard VI: Planning, Resources, and Institutional Improvement. Serves as the University administrator ofthe electronic course evaluation system. Supports programs in writing andsubmission of applications and responses to the New York State Department ofHigher Education (NYSED). Develops and distributes aNYSED-compliant syllabus template for use by all faculty and provides trainingin syllabus writing; verifies annually that Deans have a functional syllabuscollection and review process. Maintains and creates resources forfaculty and students who use the electronic course evaluation system andprovides course evaluation data to administrators upon request. Acts as liaison to the Executive PolicyTeam to ensure compliance with policy review schedule, updating of procedures,and policy creation process. Participates and generates requiredmaterials for internal audits of University assessment processes. Plans and executes continuous improvementmeasures that ensure compliance with NYSED and MSCHE requirements, alignmentwith best practices in assessment, and progress toward the University missionand strategic goals.

Qualifications:Master's degree required; doctoral degree preferred; and relevant experience inhigher education assessment and accreditation.
