Associate - Investment Analyst

Peg Companies, a vertically integrated owner, operator, and developer of multifamily, hospitality, and build-to-rent assets, is seeking a highly analytical and motivated Associate to join its Investment Team.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in investment analysis, financial modeling, and market research, with a proven ability to interpret complex data and present findings in a clear and compelling manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Analysis & Underwriting:
    • Analyze and underwrite acquisition opportunities and asset management tasks, utilizing advanced financial modeling techniques and data analysis tools.
    • Build and operate detailed property-level pro formas in Excel, incorporating market research and financial data.
  • Market Research:
    • Collect and analyze data relevant to real estate investments, utilizing subscription and non-subscription sources.
    • Conduct market research and analysis to inform investment decisions and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Investment & Financing Memos:
    • Develop comprehensive Investment Memos and Lender Financing Memos, highlighting key investment opportunities and financial projections.
    • Create External Equity Fundraising Materials using PowerPoint, showcasing the company's investment strategy and potential returns.
  • Asset Management:
    • Work with Peg Companies' vertically-integrated team to ensure business plans are proceeding according to plan, analyzing and addressing any deviations or issues.
    • Perform analysis and make recommendations when changes are required, ensuring alignment with the company's investment strategy.
  • Reporting & Communication:
    • Prepare and present financial reports and analyses to senior management and investors, ensuring clarity and precision in financial communication.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, lenders, and business partners.
  • Team Collaboration & Mentorship:
    • Work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment, providing guidance and support to junior team members.
    • Mentor and guide junior staff, sharing knowledge and expertise to ensure their success and growth within the company.
Requirements:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in investment banking or real estate private equity, with a strong background in financial analysis and market research.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Technical Skills:
  1. Advanced proficiency in Excel for financial modeling and underwriting.
  2. Proficiency in PowerPoint for creating high-quality investment materials.
  3. Familiarity with data sources and tools for market research and analysis.
Analytical Abilities:
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and present findings in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Experience in conducting sensitivity analysis, buy-sell analysis, and other key investment analyses.
Communication Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, lenders, and business partners.
Teamwork & Mentorship:
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment, providing guidance and support to junior team members.
  • Commitment to mentoring junior team members, sharing knowledge and expertise to ensure their success and growth within the company.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at desk.
  • Must be able to operate a computer, telephone, and/or keyboard and tolerate prolonged periods performing work using a computer, telephone, and/or keyboard.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
