About the Role

AECOM is seeking a Senior NEPA Compliance Project Manager to join our Environmental Planning Group. In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage projects related to National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, state-level equivalent reviews, and environmental permitting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage NEPA projects, oversee staff, perform quality assurance and control, and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Write technical assessments related to NEPA compliance and demonstrate technical expertise in the social, environmental, or physical sciences.
  • Conduct research and prepare statistical reports on land use, physical, social, and economic issues.
  • Provide professional planning assistance to member communities on varied land use and transportation projects.
  • Develop plans, studies, and analyses on a regional basis.
  • Work in regional program areas relating to natural/water resources planning, community development, hazard mitigation, coastal zone management, and others.
  • Perform field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans.
  • Conduct meetings and present reports and other findings to staff with advisory boards and elected officials.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental policy, planning, economics, or a related field and 8+ years of relevant NEPA experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Preferred qualifications include 10+ years of relevant experience with NEPA compliance, environmental permitting, technical report writing, or project management.
  • Knowledge of federal environmental laws and their implementing regulations, including but not limited to: National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Endangered Species Act, and the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Knowledge of current issues and projects related to the Bureau of Land Management, Reclamation, Forest Service, and other federally administered lands.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
  • Experience planning for or managing recreation, land use, or wilderness areas.
