Position Overview

  • Purposeful Teaching: Our educators are instrumental in actualizing our academic and cultural aspirations through effective lesson planning, curriculum development, and data-driven instruction. They are responsible for implementing Social Emotional Learning and Restorative Practices.
  • Collaboration and Support: Educators work in close partnership with the Leadership Team to foster student growth, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and continuous feedback.
  • Commitment to Equity: We strive to build an anti-racist educational community through ongoing self-reflection and evaluation of our systems and practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as an educator in settings similar to our student demographics
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Eligibility for teaching credentials
  • Alignment with KIPP's mission and vision
  • Belief in the potential of every student
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation and execution of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish measurable objectives for student success
  • Deliver specialized instruction and support services tailored to individual needs
  • Gather and assess data to track student progress
  • Design lesson plans that align with IEP goals and KIPP's educational mission
  • Adapt curriculum and resources to accommodate diverse learning needs
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Employ culturally responsive classroom management techniques
  • Communicate effectively with all relevant parties
  • Engage in professional development and collaborative learning communities
  • Maintain accurate records related to special education

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Considerations

Physical: Ability to navigate educational settings, utilize technology, and perform occasional lifting tasks. Physical agility is necessary for effective movement.

Mental: Capacity to analyze complex issues, maintain focus, and manage interruptions.

Environmental: Work in a school environment that may experience interruptions. Be prepared for potential remote work scenarios.

Classification

This is a full-time, exempt role following a school year calendar.
