Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Service Technician to join our team at Johnson Controls. As a Fire Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive service calls from our Service Resource Center and contact customer representatives to ascertain equipment/system problems.
  • Diagnose issues and perform repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products.
  • Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals to repair equipment.
  • Service and troubleshoot various Fire & Life Safety systems, including SimplexGrinnell.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, and operational product manuals.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills and communicate effectively with customers and district staff.
  • Complete service acknowledgements and obtain customer signatures upon completed service calls.
  • Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation and help train or mentor others on the service team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
  • Valid Fire Alarm License.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual positions, such as climbing ladders, working within ducts, and above ceilings.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and overnight travel may be required.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.
