Emergency Medical Services Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Emergency Medical Services Specialist to join our team in the City of Hopewell, VA. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing emergency medical services and making a difference in their community.
Responsibilities:- Respond to emergency calls and provide intermediate level emergency medical services, including basic and advanced life support.
- Support fire suppression efforts, including exterior firefighting, tactical ventilation, salvage work, and hazardous materials incident response.
- Participate in continuing training and instruction programs to maintain physical fitness and agility.
- Operate various medical apparatus, ensure emergency vehicles are stocked and maintained, and perform daily unit checks.
- Provide non-emergency public services, such as lift assists, standby for events, and river duties on fire boats.
- Conduct public safety education services, including presentations, station tours, and speaking engagements.
- Support emergency management activities and services as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Virginia or National Registry EMT Intermediate or Paramedic certification upon hire.
- Firefighter I and Hazardous Materials Operations certification preferred, required within one year of hire.
- Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia with zero points.
- Ability to meet and maintain training and education requirements for position.
This role requires working in outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat, heights, odors, noise, dust, fumes, and hazardous materials. Shift work, including weekends, holidays, nights, and overtime, is also required.
The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
