Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Education Assistant to join our team at Hillsborough County. As a key member of our Head Start program, you will play a vital role in supporting the growth and development of young learners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in developing and implementing lesson plans, promoting individual child development, and creating engaging learning environments.
  • Support the planning, organizing, and implementing of childhood education curriculums.
  • Assist in ordering and preparing materials and supplies for planned activities.
  • Monitor children during all activities where adult help is needed.
  • Provide information to parents through parent meetings, written correspondence, telephone, and home visits, as required.
  • Assist in conducting health checks on children and reporting to the nurse.
  • Administer First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), as required.

Requirements

  • Associate or higher degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or degree in any field with 18 credit hours in Early Childhood Education.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or enrolled in a child development associate credential program to be completed within 2 years of hire.
  • Obtain within 90 days of employment 40 clock hours from the Florida Department of Children and Families.
  • Developmentally Appropriate Practices for Preschoolers Course (10-hours); Introductory Child Care Training (30-hours); Child Growth and Development (6-hours); Behavioral Observation & Screening (6-hours); Health, Safety & Nutrition (8-hours), Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (4-hours); Child Care Facility Rules and Regulations (6-hours).

Work Environment

This role requires the ability to work effectively with others, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and handle confidential information. The successful candidate will be required to maintain the ability to pass the background checks required for the position.

Physical Requirements

This role requires regular kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children's needs. The ability to provide physical assistance in the transportation of special needs children is also required.

Minimum: $15.45

Midpoint: $20.72

Maximum: $25.99
