UCSF Research Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to join our team as a Junior/Assistant/Associate Specialist in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for managing transgenic mouse colonies, performing routine biochemical, molecular biology, and confocal microscopy experiments, and designing and executing studies in mouse models. The candidate will also be responsible for generating and maintaining primary cell cultures, performing data analysis, and participating in grant and manuscript writing.
Responsibilities:- Manage transgenic mouse colonies, including breeding and genotyping.
- Perform routine biochemical, molecular biology, and confocal microscopy experiments.
- Design and execute studies in mouse models.
- Generate and maintain primary cell cultures.
- Perform data analysis and record keeping.
- Participate in grant and manuscript writing.
- Present findings at national and international meetings.
- Mentor trainees as needed.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biological or biochemical sciences, with a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) and at least four years of research experience. For the Assistant rank, a master's degree (or equivalent degree) in biological or biochemical sciences is required, or a baccalaureate degree with three or more years of research experience. For the Associate rank, a master's degree (or equivalent degree) in biological or biochemical sciences is required, or at least five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.
Applicants must have hands-on experience working with rodents, proficiency in designing, executing, and analyzing in vivo experiments, and experience with standard molecular and cell biology techniques. Experience with ocular disease models is preferred.
