Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Food Safety Plans in compliance with FSMA and other regulatory standards.
  • Lead the development and implementation of HACCP programs, focusing on risk identification and management of critical control points.
  • Ensure plant food safety and quality, leading root cause analysis to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Collaborate with operations to foster a culture that prioritizes food safety and quality.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate 3rd party and customer audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the testing of ingredients and finished products to guarantee they meet safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of quality assurance activities, inspections, and compliance checks, and prepare reports for management.
  • Develop and implement crisis management plans for food safety incidents or recalls.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in food safety and quality assurance, preferably in the pet food industry.
  • Deep knowledge of FSMA, HACCP, GMP, AAFCO, and other relevant food safety and regulatory standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Certification in HACCP, PCQI, and/or SQF is highly desirable.
Working Conditions

Primarily based in a manufacturing environment, balancing on-the-floor presence with office work. Flexible work hours, including occasional weekends and evenings as needed. Potential travel up to 25%.

Compensation and Benefits

In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $72,900 - $97,180. Wages may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for many benefits, including vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, and retirement plan participation, including an employer contribution of up to 7% into your 401(k).
