The Facility Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the Community Bible Church premises, including both interior and exterior areas. This position involves a range of responsibilities aimed at supporting the church's operations and events. Tasks are assigned by the Head Custodian on duty, but assistance may also be requested by staff members organizing activities within the church.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
To accommodate individuals with disabilities, reasonable adjustments may be made to enable the performance of essential functions.
- Perform thorough cleaning duties including mopping, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and trash disposal throughout all church facilities (including hallways, classrooms, worship areas, gym, kitchen, restrooms, and concession stands).
- Prepare rooms for meetings and events by arranging and rearranging furniture as needed.
- Maintain floors by stripping, sealing, finishing, and polishing.
- Ensure restrooms are clean, stocked, and well-maintained.
- Regularly gather and dispose of waste.
- Utilize appropriate cleaning methods for various floor types.
- Adhere to safety protocols when using chemical cleaners and equipment to protect surfaces.
- Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions.
- Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water with detergents or other agents as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of furniture and fixtures.
- Dust and clean furniture, walls, and equipment.
- Keep supply closets organized and tidy.
- Report any significant maintenance needs or repairs to management.
- Order cleaning supplies and equipment as necessary.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by the Head Custodian or Supervisors.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to maintain professional relationships.
- Capability to follow directives from senior staff.
- Knowledge of general cleaning and sanitation practices.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and cleaning equipment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Adherence to departmental procedures.
- Professional and courteous communication with all church staff, members, and visitors.
- Commitment to confidentiality and integrity regarding church matters.
Work hours will vary based on the operational needs of the church, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to:
- Have good vision, including peripheral and depth perception.
- Exhibit manual dexterity and perform repetitive motions.
- Stand or walk for extended periods.
- Move throughout the building and grounds to complete various tasks.
- Communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
- Lift up to 75 lbs. and maneuver carts or racks exceeding 100 lbs.
- Engage in frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Climb ladders and navigate tight spaces as necessary.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members at all levels.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Relevant experience may be necessary based on the needs of the organization.
This role involves working in diverse settings, including outdoor and indoor environments, which may be fast-paced and demanding. It is essential for the employee to manage the typical stresses associated with the job while handling multiple responsibilities in a service-oriented atmosphere. Noise levels in the environment are generally low.
